In 2019, the Guinean government signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese company to develop a 120-megawatt wind farm The hybrid project, located in the Oriental Mindoro province, will combine an existing 16 MW wind power facility and a battery storage solution with an in-house central control system managing the energy produced at the plant. Dominica 2025 Energy Storage Project
Scheduled for completion in the second half of 2025, the facility, located in Laudat, a valley surrounding the capital, will harness the country’s volcanic potential, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and provide clean and stable energy to approximately 23,000 homes, confirmed the Dominica Geothermal Development Company, a public-private partnership carrying out the project. The largest PV integration project in Africa is set to be carried out in Nigeria following an agreement signed between Onyx Solar, a solar energy company founded in Ávila, Spain, and the world’s leading manufacturer of transparent photovoltaic (PV) glass for buildings, and Sterling Bank Plc., a full service national commercial bank in the West African country.
